Trees are one of our most precious natural resources. Although they are a renewable resource, we as furniture makers must be responsible in selecting species that are in abundant supply and are controlled in a forest management program. In order to meet this challenge and to provide products that will fit beautifully into any room decor, Townsend Cabinetmakers has chosen to work primarily with the selections listed below.

|
Mahogany
A tropical hardwood found primarily in South America and Africa. We choose this wood when it's exquisite red-brown color is desired.

Walnut
Grown from Vermont to Nebraska and from Georgia to Southern Texas, this beautiful American hardwood provides a rich dramatic appearance. The color ranges from a light gray-brown, to a darker purplish brown. Walnut is sometimes used for more formal room settings.

Oak
Grown extensively east of the Great Plains in the United States, oak is distinguishable by it's open and bold grain pattern. Very attractive when finished naturally or stained to enhance the grain detail, oak is very strong and durable and is often used in contemporary room settings.

Cherry
Grown in the Appalachian Mountains, this close grained, strong hardwood will, when finished naturally, start as a light straw color, as shown on our color panel, then age to a beautiful rich reddish-brown patina.
